The lecture will be held in Giant Eagle Auditorium, Baker Hall A51, at CMU. The presenter is Mr. Xueming Lu, who is the Vice Principal of Chinese School of Delaware as well as a Ph.D student of Education at university of Delaware. Mr. Lu's presentation is focused on building the concept of heritage Chinese school to make connections to the main stream Chinese language education. The foundation of the concept centers on the curriculum design. Mr. Lu wishes to emphasize that curriculum is a concept rather than course contents, sequence, and delivery alone. When Chinese schools are facing more and more non-heritage students, how should Chinese schools decide the curriculum and respond to different requests? Should curriculum design be different from the main stream Chinese language education? How can connections be made if there are different curricula? Mr. Lu will also discuss challenges the heritage Chinese schools have and how and where to establish partnerships with main streamChinese language education systems.
