In the springtime of Cranberry Township, with everything blooming and full of life. On April 12, Cranfest 2025 was held indoors at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The Pittsburgh Chinese School (PCS) was honored to participate, bringing rich cultural displays and performances to the annual community event.
PCS’s booth was located beside the main stage and immediately drew attention with its bold banner and beautifully arranged cultural displays. The principal and director of administration arrived early to set up the booth, which featured Chinese calligraphy, chess, postcards, traditional crafts such as face-changing dolls and bookmarks, mooncake molds and demonstrations, and brochures about the school. Many children and families stopped to explore the exhibits, enjoying the hands-on experience and discovering the charm of Chinese culture in a festive, friendly atmosphere.
Beyond the exhibition booth, PCS also prepared three wonderful stage performances that added rich artistic flair to the event. The pipa ensemble presented two contrasting pieces—"Waiting a Thousand Years" from the 1992 TV show New Legend of Madame White Snake, and "Dance of the Golden Snake"—one melodic and sentimental, telling a story of ancient longing, the other lively and festive, blending tradition with modern rhythm. The dance performance "Ethereal Moon" was graceful and ethereal, while the adult guzheng class’s solo piece "Liuyang River" offered a flowing and elegant melody that lingered in the air. Each performance was warmly received, with audience members clapping enthusiastically and taking photos to capture the moment.
This event was not only a celebration of students’ learning and artistic expression but also a meaningful opportunity for the wider community to engage with and appreciate Chinese culture. Many visitors expressed genuine interest in PCS and its programs.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, parents, and performers whose dedication made this day a success. We look forward to returning to Cranfest next year and continuing to build bridges through language, culture, and community.
