Syllabus:

本学期的国际象棋课程面向零基础学员,教学内容将以国际象棋基础知识为主,辅以相关赛事信息及趣味性内容,提升学习兴趣。

课堂要求:孩子需遵从老师指导,遵守课堂纪律;家长需承担监督与配合的责任,如有需要,可陪同孩子参与课堂,帮助其更好地融入学习环境。每班人数上限为20人。

This semester’s chess course is designed for beginners with no prior experience. The curriculum will focus on fundamental chess knowledge, supplemented with information about related tournaments and engaging content to enhance interest in learning.

Class requirements: Children are expected to follow the teacher’s instructions and adhere to classroom rules. Parents are responsible for supervision and support; if needed, they may accompany their child in class to help them better adapt to the learning environment. Each class is limited to a maximum of 20 students.

Assistant 1:

Erick Zhao, an International Master, is a junior at Winchester Thurston Upper School. He has been playing chess since the age of five and has served as a teaching assistant at the Pittsburgh Chinese School since Fall 2024. He hopes to spread and inspire as many people as possible into the game of chess.

Some of Erick's notable chess achievements include:

● Member of the All-American Chess Team multiple times

●Team USA invitee for World Youth Chess Championship since 2018

●Achieved 1st place in the 2023 U16 Pan-American Chess Championships

●Achieved 1st place in the 2023 US Cadet Championship

●Earned International Master title in 2024

●Achieved 1st place in multiple grades at the US Chess National Grade Level Championship,

including Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, and 10th grade.

 

Assistant 2:

Chloe Wang is a junior at the Shady Side Academy. She began learning chess at the age of five. Chloe has been a teaching assistant at the Pittsburgh Chinese School since 2024 September. Through her work, she hopes to introduce more people to chess and inspire them to grow both on and off the board.

Some of her notable chess achievements include:

●2021-2025 Team USA invitee for World Youth Chess Championship

●2024 Pan- American Youth Chess Championship – Girl U16, Silver Medalist

●2023 North American Youth Chess Championship – Girl U14, Gold Medalist
